Monday - 3/15 Agenda

Today we need to take some time to do several things, catch up on stories that have yet to be published, and review what we have already done. Today plan to be busy - if you run out of work, you can help someone else with theirs since we are a team, it is important the the news is published in a timely fashion. We hope to get back out into the field at least one more time this week as well.

Morning:

  • Publish stories which you started last week - finish editing videos or slide shows and then post the story - old news is not good news! (Check with Mrs. Poulin, she may have done a few over the weekend in order to move us forward this week.)

  • Complete new stories on a few Winterims which sent us information over the weekend (Yellowstone, Educador, Biking, others). If you have both old and new stories to publish we will split up the work so by the end of the morning all old and new stories are done.

Afternoon (or if you when you finish morning tasks):

  • Content Check: Go through the LA Winterim blog to check all stories posted about your assignmed Winterims; Ms. Ruby will track which ones have been blogged about on the Winterim Project List; you will check for errors and make sure the tags are accurate for each post

  • GMap: Finish the GMap posts for each of your Winterims - if yours are done, help finish the other entries of those students who can not get to this task

  • Metrics: Check Google Analytics and set a goal for the end of the week

  • Promote: Each student promotes one story or the blog itself via Facebook, Twitter, personal e-mail, LA Student news or etc.

  • Blog Design: Check LATechie's bookmarks on Delicious for sites which will provide us widgets on the blog.

Wednesday - 3/10 Agenda

As of right now your Facebook Fan page was at 90 fans! From 6 to 90 in 24 hours! Let's see if we can add that many more followers to the Blog or Twitter. Challenge: add widget to the LA Winterim Blog which tracks how many visitors we get and/or where they are from. (Not everyone who is visiting the blog or reading it is choosing to become a follower. A widget like this will help you track the traffic to the blog.)

Today's Agenda:
PLEASE no lap tops while Mr. Mundahl is actually talking with you or asking you to engage in an activity. Although, you will NEED your lap top for the work you will do today, I'm asking that we be RESPECTFUL with the use of technology while someone is presenting and close your lap tops. (Mr. Brescia was appreciative of your attention, however he reported later it was difficult for him to gage if you were following or gaining anything from the workshop since all of you had lap tops open and were often "working" or typing on them.) Check out this article which Ms. Ruby found last night regarding lap tops at certain colleges.
